This morning on the way to work I thought about me, turning twenty-eight. How I love my new head tattoo and my edgy, trademark style. Then, I thought about my boyfriend’s comments on a Parisian socialite’s daughter that we viewed on a blog. She is twenty-three. I, an admirer of her Mom’s work, proudly showed him the woman’s daughter. “She looks old,” he said and walked into the other room.

After his blunt remark, I stared closely at the screen. I stared closely at the screen as if she might look younger, if I looked hard enough. 

So back to this morning. I though about this twenty-three year old girl who has this fabulous life and hangs with all of the who’s-who’s in Paris. Did she dress like that to appear more mature? Did she not feel twenty-three? Was she conservative?

I though about how a teenage daughter or concerned friend will ask their loved one to dress their age. But what about younger women? Why aren’t people encouraging them to dress as a twenty-three year old should? 

Everyone has a right to their personal style; I know this. But are we that much in a rush to be thirty that we can’t where a mini skirt or show a bit of skin? I think that young women should dress their age, and experiment before they become that embarrassing Mom with a crop top and mini skirt at the PTA meeting.

Your Kate Spade and Tory Burch moments will come young ladies, but please wear bodycons, super tight leather pants and bra tops under blazers while you can!

This Alexander Wang-ish canvas bag is for hipsters only. At $71, the Baggu Tie-Dye Canvas Backpack is clearly more affordable than Wang. I was excited to share this with you guys but it is unfortunately sold out on the American Rag Cie website.

I would rock this with acid washed boyfriend jeans, pumps, a white tee and a distressed denim vest.

I must say that Jessica Simpson’s shoe collection has caused quite a stir with shoe fanatics. The first reason being the attractive price point (Most shoes don’t retail over $100) and the second being the interesting architecture and color palette. While searching for Morning Drools, I came across these lovely snakeskin platforms.

I was ok. I swear. I was calm at home reviewing my old magazines with Spring ’11 looks in them. Then I saw this dress. So minimilistic but, very ethereal. I will forever love Lanvin’s big red dress that I can’t afford!
